175 In the Line of Duty with Peter Edge
Knowing that vulnerable people need protecting and following his dream to serve in the police force, Peter Edge spent decades standing up for those who needed his protection. Working in uniform, vice, drugs and CID Peter quickly rose through the ranks, until his own ‘Line of Duty’ experience brought his stellar police career to an abrupt halt. Finding himself at the heart of an anti-corruption investigation, he was suspended for two and a half years and Peter fought back to rebuild his career and his reputation.

ABOUT PETER EDGE
Born in Liverpool and educated by the Irish Christian Brothers, in 1981 Peter turned his back on a career in dentistry and joined Merseyside Police during the most turbulent time in its history. Retiring from the force 30 years later in 2011 Peter started his own business, worked for the NHS, and acted as a consultant on the NATO summit 2014. Peter has spoken professionally throughout his police career, both keynotes and after dinner.
In recent years he’s also taken to the stage as a stand-up comedian and won the Professional Speaking Association Comedy Award in 2019. Married with three daughters, Peter has been a rugby player coach and referee, a keen cyclist, motorcyclist and walker. He’s walked the ‘Camino de Santiago’ by three different routes, recordings from the last two of which feature on his ‘Camino Plodcast’.
